Project on Your Mind!!!!

Here at Sen5e we are often asked to deliver Project training, whether it is Project Management, Microsoft Project or Prince II training.

Any Project theory or Project tool can be very effective as long as the intended users are provided with the correct skills to understand what they are being taught and then how to implement what they have been taught.

We often find its not until we are through the second day of a course, that the delegates start to fully appreciate the impact on their department or business of implementing a project tool.

Look Out! for the Black Holes!

The other situation we experience is when we train the self taught Project user. Usually they come to us as a last result, frustrated that their project doesn't seem to be functioning as they would expect and seems complicated, time consuming and difficult to use. There are many "black holes" that a user can easily fall into when using a tool such as Microsoft Project.

We have come to the conclusion, through delivering Project training to many thousands of delegates that it is through Microsoft's desire to produce software which is intuitive and easy to use, that it can often be misleading to the end user. 

It is very important to understand how the product works “behind the scenes”, in order to use this tool effectively. Just because we are able to open a document, enter and save data, this does not mean that someone is competent at using Microsoft Project as a tool.  

If you are a Microsoft Project user, we would dearly like to warn you about the “Black Holes”. On nearly every course we teach, at least one person has fallen into one of the black holes and it has caused them problems. Once you understand these issues, recovery only takes seconds, but usually users struggle with these problems for weeks or months.
